Arrive in Srinagar
Airport pick-up and a quiet afternoon on the lake.

Up the Sindh valley to Sonmarg
A steady drive east along the river, with stops at Kangan and Gagangir. Afternoon walk toward Thajiwas, and the valley to yourself in the evening.
Hotel or camp in Sonmarg - 03Srinagar
Toward Zojila, then back to Srinagar
A morning drive up toward Baltal and the Zojila approach, as far as the road and the traffic allow, then back down to Srinagar for the night.

Worth knowing before you book
- The Zojila road carries heavy freight and convoy traffic. We time the drive to avoid the worst of it and turn back where it makes sense.
- Sonmarg itself needs only one night unless you are trekking.
- The whole route depends on the pass being open, usually May to September.
Questions
Do we actually cross Zojila?
Not on this trip. We drive up toward it for the landscape and turn around before the pass. Crossing into Ladakh is a longer trip with acclimatisation built in, which we can plan separately.
Is one night in Sonmarg really better than a day trip?
For most people, yes. The day crowd leaves by late afternoon and the valley changes completely. If your schedule is tight, the day trip from Srinagar still works.
