About
A small company, run from the valley
Sada plans private trips through Kashmir for people who would rather travel slowly and know who they are dealing with.
Our story
How Sada started
Sada began the way a lot of small travel companies do. People who grew up in Srinagar kept getting the same message from friends of friends: we are coming to Kashmir, can you help. What started as favours became a way to work.
The thing we kept running into was how most Kashmir trips are sold. A week compressed into a checklist, four hours in the car every day, a different hotel every night, and a booking handled by an office in another city that has never driven the Sonmarg road. People would arrive tired and leave having seen a lot of viewpoints and very little of the place.
So we built the opposite. Fewer places, more time in each. Local drivers who know the roads and the seasons. Honest itineraries that tell you when a day is long or a detour is not worth it. And one person you can actually reach while you are here.
We are still small, and we intend to stay that way. It is the only way to keep the trips personal.
The process
How we plan a trip
Every trip is built from scratch around your dates and your pace. This is roughly how it goes.
- 01
We talk first
A call or a few messages. Your dates, your group, how you like to travel, what you have already seen. No form to fill in and no pressure.
- 02
We send a draft
A day-by-day plan with real detail: where you stay, how long each drive is, what a day actually holds. Not a glossy PDF with stock photos.
- 03
We change it
You push back, we adjust. Slower here, an extra night there, skip the thing that does not appeal. This goes back and forth until it is right.
- 04
We are there while you travel
One driver for the whole trip and one person to reach. If the weather turns or a road shuts, we reshape the days around it.
How we work
What you get with a small operator
The trips are personal because the company is small. Here is what that means day to day.
- 01
We live here
Sada is run from Srinagar, not a sales desk in another city. The people planning your trip drive the roads and know which houseboat is worth the night.
- 02
One driver, one plan
You keep the same vehicle and driver for the whole trip, and one person to call if anything changes. No handoffs between agents who have never spoken.
- 03
Honest itineraries
We tell you which days are long on the road, when a detour is not worth it, and exactly what is and is not included. No surprises at the taxi stand.
- 04
We plan for the weather
Passes close and the gondola shuts. Our itineraries have slack built in, so a bad day costs you an afternoon, not the trip.
A note on the name
Sada is a word that lands three ways in the languages spoken here. It means always, or evergreen, which is what the chinar is. It also means plain or simple. And it means a voice, or a call. We did not pick it to be clever. All three happen to describe the kind of trip we want to run.
